Small But Mighty….Rests

I always think digging yourself out of pain hole needs a multi pronged approach.

There’s rarely One Big Fix, unless you happen to have a good surgical option (and even then that’s not always the whole answer).

I’ve been wittering on recently about check-ins… and they are one of my favourite ‘prongs’ because they take basically zero time to do, you just need a bit of brain space here and there.

But you do need to train your body what you want it to do in a check-in.

Essentially with a check in you are usually looking for some form of relaxation or ease. That’s difficult to train in yourself in a stressed out state. We learn best when we’re calm. So we do need to practice what we want from our body in some quiet set aside time as well as on the go.

Constructive Rest is the easiest option for this I reckon – you get a nice lie down AND train in the ‘behaviour’ you want from your body.  Because it’s something you train and practice, you can start to get results from really quite short rests. Even 2 minutes sitting in your car at lunch can be effective.

The Constructive Rest Club is where myself and 2 colleagues, Natalie and Gemma, share how to build this small but mighty habit.

And we’ve just launched an Instagram and Facebook Page to share all about resting ‘constructively’….

If you want some gentle prompts to take care of yourself to pop up in your feed, then we’re your wholesome doom-scrolling interrupter!

Please follow and share, its such a simple, easy and much needed practice, we’d love for it to be more widely known about.

Thank you!
