Mind The Gap painted on a platform

The Big Gap

What have you already tried? Its a key question I always ask.

By the time someone finds me, they’ve usually ticked off the list:
Core exercises, physio recommended exercises, endless chiropractor sessions, yoga, Pilates, acupuncture.

Of course – those are the big names in the pain world.

Sometimes they help (though usually not for the reasons you thought). Sometimes they don’t, which is why you’re still searching for ideas…

And that’s where I see a Big Gap in how you have been helped before. A big juicy piece of the pain puzzle that has been missed.

No one has helped you calm your nervous system.

That has to come first. Exercising and manipulating a wound-up, painful body is like trying to build a a beautiful new extension while the main house is on fire.

Calming everything down – body, brain, and all the signals in between – is the foundation.

So I use a whole toolkit with clients to work on this stuff. Once that that Big Gap in approach has been addressed then you can benefit from the strengthening, capacity and tolerance building side of things.

Have you been shown how to calm it down first, or has it all been about building it up?

In a couple of weeks, I’ll share a practical series on calming your nervous system in a way you probably haven’t tried before…. Sign up to my mailing list to get these straight to your inbox!
